Mentor

The Mentoring value of Cognition is where the 6 members of the team are involved in teaching other people, including students especially, in aspects such as the STEM Racing Project, and also how to improve themselves mentally. This has been achieved through sessions dedicated towards mentoring the next generation of students that may compete in STEM Racing. An example of this is on our Instagram, where Matty (Simulation Engineer) was teaching Akhil (Trainee engineer), the basics of FEA. As well as this, we have sent out Form time activities to every form in the school, to mentor students in our school how to think mindfully, and this has helped them to learn how to be calmer and more aware of themselves and their surrounding, and it has helped us by giving us feedback about our market through a Google Form as an activity.

Mental Health

The Mental Value of Cognition reflects the area of our team that values mental health and how we take it very seriously as a team, and as a school. We have partnered with The C

itizenship (PSHE) Department in our school, and have adopted .b (dot-bee), which is a mindfulness course aimed at teenagers to improve their mental state, and has been adopted into the team, which has been a large part of the school for around 20 years or so. The way in which we are taking on this, is using it as an interactive element in the pit display, where people interested in our pit display could lower their heart rate, by doing a .b, which involves "Feet on Floor, Bum on Chair" and closing your eyes, and breathing slowly.

Sustainability

Being Sustainable is the future of the world, starting from ourselves. Being sustainable requires the team doing things in mind of the future, and how it will benefit ourselves or our community in the future, as well as now. Some examples of this being done throughout our affairs is the Mentor Programme, which is sustainable as it provides future skills for these students looking to pursue themselves in STEM Racing. As well as this, our work in the schools Garden. Our business cards that we have purchased are biodegradable, and can be planted to form wildflowers, which plants Cognition into the ground forever without damaging nature.
